My anxieties have anxiety








Anxiety is a word that is used often. Clients come iinto my room and announce “I am anxious about!, all the time.” Work, children, politics, NHS, and so forth. Stress is another word that we use or label for anxiety.

So what is anxiety?


Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. These disorders affect how we feel and behave, and they can manifest real physical symptoms.5 Jan 2016

How does it impact?

So as you think of all those things that you are anxious about, that is the stuff that you tend to experience in life. I am almost certain that there is probably loads more stuff that you can find to be anxious about.

Who do you know? Is scared of flying because the plane may crash and yet drive a car everyday without a thought. So themselves and their families have a limited choice of holiday venues.

How about someone that is constantly changing jobs, because the boss, manager has got it in for them or the other staff are bitchy or not friendly and helpful. They often start the new positions already anxious that the job isn’t going to work out. Yet have friends and family that they interact with easily.

I can remember being in a work position and the manager went on holiday, as soon as he was gone everybody with the exception of one person (still a bestie 😍) was absolutely horrible to me.  I was going home in tears. One day, I asked my friend why they were attacking me? She replied “ you have done nothing wrong except you expected this to happen” she was so right, I was receiving exactly what I had expected. The good news was I dealt with it and strong friendships were formed.

I can tell you that situation impacted on everyone in the workplace and my family. Just like the ripple effect of the pebble in the pond.

How can you make a change?

A pill from the doctor will help with the chemical imbalances in the mind.  This can give you a break to then look at a situation in a different way.

So was everyone being nasty? No, it was only a couple of people. How was I impacting the situation? Well I was reacting with the look and stiff body language.

If the boss and people from all the jobs you have are picking on you, then maybe you might not be fulfilled in that profession, so explore other opportunities that could fulfil your real desires and also mixing with likeminded people.

Journaling is another way to exit the mind chatter of the story you are telling yourself. Just write down all the stuff in your mind and then read it back. You just may find yourself smiling as you rationalise the situations in a completely different way. After all you may be your hardest critic but also your own best friend.
